Kenya
On 28 November 2002, two shoulder-launched missiles were fired at an Israeli charter airliner (an Arkia Airlines Boeing 727) as it took off from the Mombasa, Kenya, airport with Israeli tourists aboard. Both missiles narrowly missed the aircraft. On 6 December, Kenyan police found the missiles. A suicide bombing at the Paradise Hotel in Mombasa, frequented by Israeli tourists, was timed to coincide with the attempted missile strike and killed Israelis and others.
